Dear beloved, welcome to another week of our pastors corner taken from the book of Proverbs 21:13 which says ‘Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.’
Beloved, being a blessing does not only mean financially or with material things, but “blessing” means that instead of looking inwardly towards self and self-promotion, you maintain the discipline to look outwardly toward others, so that they can feel the love of God through you. Matthew 25:40 ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’- Whatever good we do to others, we are doing it to Jesus Himself!
There is always something we can do or give, even if we only have little; a smile, a kind word or maybe it is the last $10 we have in our pockets. Choosing to live your life according to being a blessing is so much better than living to be blessed. The bible says that God gives seed to the sower. He will give it to you because He knows He can trust you to give it out, He will get money TO you because He can also get it THROUGH you! Even if you start out small and give from your lack, He will increase it back to you- pressed down, shaken together and running over.
There is a twofold retribution depicted on the unmerciful person. He also shall cry out himself, and he shall not be heard. He will also find himself in distress, in tribulation and he shall appeal to his neighbors for help but they will not listen. For the bible says in Luke 6:38b ‘For with the same measure that ye mete out, it shall be measured back to you.” The poor will always be among us, but how you will you respond?
It is therefore our prayer that your ears will be open to the cry of the poor, and you will respond accordingly so that in your own time of need, help will be rendered to you. Until we meet again next week, Calvary blessings upon you.
